The Road Made Simple: Waze App Now Available in Volvo Cars

Taking a significant step in enriching the in-car experience, Volvo Cars has incorporated the Waze app into its in-car app library, making it globally available for all its cars that feature a Google built-in system. Notably, this advancement also introduces the Waze app to drivers in Canada for the first time, a major stride in Volvo's commitment to delivering universal access to top-notch driving technologies.

At the heart of this development is Waze's real-time navigation, routing, and alert functionalities. Once downloaded from the Google Play Store within your Volvo car, this feature-rich navigation tool becomes readily accessible with just a single tap, irrespective of who's driving or what device they use. This integration aims to minimize phone-related distractions and hassle, enabling a smoother driving experience.

One of the highlights of the in-car Waze app is its seamless integration with Volvo Cars' infotainment system. It capitalizes on the central screen in the Volvo user interface, bringing navigation to a comfortable eye-level with a bigger, bolder display. This provides a more intuitive and user-friendly experience, similar to what users are accustomed to with the Waze mobile app, but with the added advantage of safer, hands-free operation.

Commenting on this development, Erik Severinson, Volvo's global head of new car programmes & operations strategy, noted that their commitment is to provide more personalized options for their customers. The expansion of the in-car app library and continuous collaborations with tech giants like Google and Waze, he stated, are fundamental to Volvo's mission to enhance the in-car experience.

Echoing the enthusiasm, Aron Di Castro, Director of Marketing and Partnerships at Waze, expressed delight at the collaboration with Volvo. The integration of Waze's real-time navigation, routing, and alerts into Volvo's infotainment system without the need for a phone connection, Di Castro said, embodies a simplified and seamless driving experience.

The integration of Waze into Volvo Cars symbolizes an exciting evolution in the in-car app ecosystem. It underscores the automotive industry's ongoing efforts to elevate driving experiences through advanced technology, ensuring seamless access to vital information while keeping distractions to a minimum.
