The 2023 Volvo S60 Recharge Has You covered
August 15 2022,
The Volvo S60 Recharge has been given a refresh for 2023, but underneath all of that it remains a great mix of power, poise and practicality thanks to its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain.
By having an EV motor attached to the rear axle, the S60 Recharge is an AWD car at base, but since it uses an EV motor for its AWD, there’s no need for a driveshaft and the weight associated with it and a second rear differential. That means the S60’s turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine can spend less time hauling around weight, and more time putting the power down, to the tune of 415 horsepower and 494 pound-feet of torque in Polestar Engineered spec. That’s power enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 4.5 seconds, which is more sports car than sports sedan.
Then, after all that’s said and done, you get the other big benefit of a PHEV powertrain, and that’s the ability to cruise for up to 64 km on full-EV power. Then, it’s just a matter of plugging in or letting the one-pedal drive battery regen feature do its work. A boon in this day of soaring gas prices.
New touches for 2023 include a redesigned front grille that integrates the forward radar sensor within the logo housing for a cleaner look, new front and rear bumpers that hide the exhaust outlets, new colour choices, and new wheels.
Inside, we see the addition of Google Built-in infotainment technology, which essentially turns your S60 Recharge into a Google device. Simply log in to your Google account, and you’ll get access to apps like Google Maps, Spotify and more. The included Google Assistant, meanwhile, means that controlling your navigation commands, accessing your daily calendar or even your climate control system is never more than a “Hey Google” away.
