Volvo made significant improvements to its lineup of Recharge plug-in hybrid SUVs this month. The addition of a larger capacity battery means that Volvo Recharge models now deliver a lot more range. The XC90 Recharge is a plug-in hybrid SUV that now delivers more all electric range than any other midsize three-row luxury SUV in its segment. The XC90 Recharge now offers more range than the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid or the BMW X5 PHEV.

The new 18.8 kW power battery allows XC90 Recharge users to drive 58 km on electric power alone. This is an improvement of 29 km or double the range of the previous XC90 Recharge.

Not only is the XC90 Recharge a lot more efficient, but it is also a lot more powerful. With 455 hp under your right foot, the XC90 Recharge definitely stands out when it comes to performance. It has a lot more power than the BMW X5 PHEV and it is now on equal footing with the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid. The XC90 hasn't changed its design or its DNA.
