A look at the impressive Google Built-in infotainment system
July 22 2022,
While Google may not yet have released the car that’s been rumoured for all these years, they’ve done the next best thing and made sure that your car can be as familiar a place as your favourite smartphone or tablet. It’s called Google Built-in, and it provides the tools for the most seamless link between your car and your life we’ve ever seen.
By now, chances are we’re familiar with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps – you take your phone, pair it either via cable or wirelessly to your car and you’re off to the races. Google Built-in takes this a step further by pre-loading the world of Google right into your car, and all you need to access it is a Google account and your smartphone.
Once you’ve set up a profile, it will automatically load as soon as you step into your car, automatically start looking at the various apps Google provides to see if there is any pertinent business. It can access your Google Calendar, Google Play Music and with a simple “Hey Google” command, you can also call up your Google Assistant to ensure that your day remains on-track. Of course the system can also be touch-activated, it that’s what you prefer.
With Google Built-in, not only can you control your Maps or tell your assistant to turn the heat up in the car, you can also tell them to turn the heat up in your house as you can also access your Google Nest smarthome app from your car. So, you know that whenever you arrive back at home, your house will be heated (or cooled) just the way you like it, the right lights will be turned on.
Makes your day-to-day much easier, doesn’t it?
